BackgroundTraditionally, flat, light boxes are used by photographers and angled light boxes
used by Animators in Animation
Studios.
Originally, a version of a light box was made from cardboard and acrylic. This light box was created by a Disney Animator who was teaching some of the Cartooning,Animation, and Illustrationcourses at Go Motion Studios. We also discovered that light boxes had never really been used by:
Fashion, Graphic and Industrial Designers creating illustrations or sketches
Teachers as a drawing tool to teach
students drawing techniques using templates
students needing to learn drawing techniques for Animation, Cartooning and Illustration
Doctors needing to draw and sketch for their patients and/or view X-Rays on the go
for arts and crafts activities like scrap booking, sewing and embroidering
A lot of thought and dedication went into creating a simple, sophisticated design that works well and looks great. When we
first introduced the ii box to a variety of schools, studios and Medical Clinics 3 years
ago,
everyone was excited. Illustrating, teaching and
learning drawing techniques could not have been made easier or more convenient.After this initial trial, we received many requests for the ii
box and so we decided
to create an Australian Made, eco-friendly product accessible to just about everyone.

For those of us who appreciate
sophisticated design, the ii box is both stylish and streamlined and
completely Australian Made. Made from sturdy Acrylic with a larger than usual drawing surface
(440mm x 440 mm), and a white, powder-coated aluminium frame, the ii box is both
comfortable to draw on and lightweight. The unit can also be placed on any flat
surface and due to its unique rubber feet - it will not move! To be kind to our environment, we light up the ii box with an eco -friendly, energy-saving, 10000hr globe. (The ii box has been safety tested and
has received a Certificate of Electrical Approval.)
